Call for artists: MEMORIAL on Flensburg’s Colonial Past
The city of Flensburg issued a public Call for Proposals for the conceptual design of a memorial site commemorating the colonial ties of Flensburg.
The objective is to design a place of remembrance in public space that
- addresses a critically conveys Flensburg’s colonial past
- provides space to confront historical responsibilities
- offers space for dialogue, and
- takes a stance against racism and for human rights.
Deadline for step one is April 30th, 2026.

Also, from summer 2025 until January 2026, the network exhibited a picture gallery of monuments for colonial histories of European port cities at the harbour front.
