Luisa Ascending – Artist Talk

Artist Talk

Artist Talk in English, on Saturday 23.04 at 14:30 in the exhibition Luisa Ascending (Nikolaikirche, Südermarkt, Flensburg). A decolonial exchange with Felisha Maria Bahadur and Dr. Inken Carstensen-Egwuom, moderated by Sybil Peters.

We will engage with Felisha’s large-scale paintings in the Nikolaikirche, be able to ask questions, share our impressions and have a lively exchange.

Here is the Website of the Exhibition: https://felishamaria.de/ux-portfolio/luisa/

A little glimpse: Luisa Ascending is a Passiontide exhibition by Felisha Maria Bahadur that is an exploration of Luisa Calderón’s story, tracing suffering, pathos and identity in a decolonial context.

In the early 19th century, widespread images of the tortured 14-year-old Luisa Calderón caused a stir in Britain: they showed the violence, previously hidden to Europeans, that was part of everyday life in colonised places. Calderón’s story still raises questions today about how this violence is connected to our reality in the here-and-now.

We will be so excited to see you there!

Kids are welcome (and there is an ice-cream parlor just at Südermarkt, if they get bored :-)).
