Anthology Sønderjylland-Schleswig Kolonial
The cultural legacy of colonialism in the region between Eider and Königsau
The anthology Sønderjylland-Schleswig Kolonial, edited by Marco Petersen in 2018, deals with the Danish-German colonial history in 21 contributions from different perspectives. The articles are all written in Danish or German and focus on different aspects that highlight the colonial connections: from shipping, Flensburg bricks and mahogany wood to museum objects, schools and personalities such as Sönke Nissen.
In addition to the anthology, the Sønderjylland-Schleswig Colonial Project has also produced a map of colonial sites in the Sønderjylland-Schleswig region, which includes a number of sites in Flensburg with photographs and brief information.
The large-format and richly illustrated book is available in bookshops for just under 40 euros (ISBN: 978-87-408-3161-0).
