“Flensburg 2030+” wins 10,000 euros – the jury also mentions the engagement with colonial heritage

The city of Flensburg has been awarded €10,000 in prize money for its 'Flensburg 2030+' strategy in a nationwide competition for commitment to development. Flensburg's aim to deal with its colonial heritage was also mentioned in the award announcement.

Mapping as a method of decolonial memory practice in European cities

In an article published in 2024 in the journal sub\urban (German only), Sybille Bauriedl (European University Flensburg) and Linda Pasch (University of Bonn) look at postcolonial maps. The article examines the extent to which the maps combine decolonial politics of memory with a critical reflection on map production and the power of maps.
